Although it lacks some of the refinement of the Yaesu, the Tytera model does allow you to transmit AM modulation. The Yaesu is FM transmit only. You can listen to AM with both, but the Chinese radio is the only one of the two that will allow you to transmit AM, even on [[Citizen Band]] channels.
