== Search Contacts by phone number ==The default android dialer app allows searching through the contacts address book by a text matching string. You start to type someone's name and the app narrows down the contacts until exact match. However, if you enter a phone number in the dialer, it will not display which contact in the address book matches the number until after you place the call! Blackberry shows the contact match right away without having to place a call. If all you want to do is identify a phone number (perhaps from your phone bill) without calling it, the default android dialer app will let you down. This is just an example of the short sighted lack of refinement by the android developers. The dialer app gets neglected even though it should be the most critical app on the device!Solution #1: A workaround exists! Go to the text message app and start entering the phone number in the To: field.
