[[Image:05star.png]] 1. Chikka Messenger - This is software you have to install.  Ranking very low because after all the work installing and registering, it didn't work at all.  Recipient must approve an invite prior to receiving messages.

[[Image:15star.png]] 4. SMS through GoogleTalk - Works well but is complicated to set up.  Must have a gmail account.  Supports address book.  One msg to one person at a time. Free. Sends an automated opt-out message with your message which is not desirable but can be tolerated. [http://www.googletutor.com/chat-anywhere-send-sms-with-google-talk/ How-to] update: the error "''Your message could not be delivered because you have sent messages to too many mobile contacts who have not responded.''" hurts GoogleTalk's usefulness as a PC to SMS medium.

[[Image:05star.png]] 11. SMS Everywhere ( http://smseverywhere.com/ ) - Web based.  Address book and mass message options. Doesn't seem to work.  Would not send my message.  Auto-detects carrier based on number which is problematic when the same number is kept when user changes providers.
