A good version of Minecraft is 1.12.2.  Although it does not facility the level of modding that the old 1.8 did, it is a good compromise between a relatively good feature and gameplay set with restraints on most of what Microsoft did to pervert later releases of Minecraft.

This is a reference to file system paths, launcher, java, and mod or plugin installation files for this version.  This is not a polished guide.  It is a reference to information.

The path to the launcher
* ~/.minecraft/forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2860-installer.jar

Terramining Launcher profiles (player name, uuid, username and etc)
* ~/.minecraft/launcher_profiles.json

Local mods can provide useful interface conveniences as well as visual improvements.  You add those jar files to the following path:
